Marionette lines extend from the corners of the mouth down to the chin. Not only are they impacted by loss of fatty volume in the buccal fat pad, but skin elasticity and even genetics plays a large part in how pronounced they become.
The buccal fat pad is made up of several fatty masses conjoined in the cheek. The buccal fat pad also gives the cheeks their volume and shape.
As we age, this fat pad reduces in volume, leading the cheeks and surrounding areas to appear gaunt and thinner. This is a natural process, although external factors such as dehydration, smoking and excess alcohol intake can also have an impact. A treatment with dermal filler can help to replace this lost volume and restore a more youthful appearance.
Our experienced M1 doctors can help to fight the development of marionette lines with a dermal filler treatment. To find out more, please contact us to book your one on one consultation.
HOW DOES THE TREATMENT WORK?
During your one on one consultation with your doctor, they will determine how much dermal filler your treatment requires. Each treatment is different and requires different amount of product.
Your doctor will inject the dermal filler into the marionette lines with very fine needles, rendering the procedure minimally painful. The dermal filler also includes an anesthetic agent, reducing any pain further.
You may notice some swelling or bruising at the injection site for a few days after your treatment. This is completely normal and will disappear over the next few days. Please follow all aftercare instructions given by your doctor to ensure the best results from your treatment.
Your marionette lines treatment will last for around 4 to 9 months. After this point we recommend a follow up treatment with your M1 doctor.
