Cheekbones are one of the key features that frame the face and create a dramatic profile. Popularised by celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Bella Hadid, cheek enhancement using dermal filler are now one of the most popular medical aesthetic treatments performed by medical practitioners.
Cheekbones are one area that suffer prominently as we age and lose facial volume. Because the skin is so close to the muscle, any volume loss is more pronounced than it may be in other places. This leads to a gaunt face that can look old and harsh. A cheek enhancement aim to correct this by replacing the natural cushion of fat between the skin and the bone, rounding out the high points of the cheeks and making the skin appear smooth and supple.
Each cheek enhancement is different, and each treatment requires different volumes of dermal filler, different consistencies and different injection points. HOW DOES THE TREATMENT WORK?
During your one on one consultation, your doctor will assess your cheekbones and skin to decide which product would be the best option for you. They will then inject the dermal filler with very fine needles; the dermal filler also contains an anesthetic agent so the treatment is minimally painful. Your doctor may massage the filler to make sure it is sitting on your cheekbones correctly.
The results of your cheek enhancement will be visible immediately, but it will take a few days for the dermal filler to absorb water and reach its full result. You may notice some swelling or bruising around the injection site, but this will subside within a few days. Please pay careful attention to the aftercare instructions provided to you by your doctor to ensure the best results possible.
Your cheek enhancement treatment will last for 4 to 9 months. After this we recommend a follow up treatment with your M1 doctor.
